Secondary to this, the project embraced empowerment, training
and job creation. Community members were part of the Project Steering
Committee (PSC) and will be involved in the project from planning
to implementation and completion.
Community involvement included the PSC members and also the appointment
of a Labour Desk Officer to manage labour affairs during the construction
period.
Labour Intensive Construction methods were implemented where
possible and construction activities such as the laying of pipes,
backfilling and finishing of trenches, small concrete works and
dayworks were conducted by locally employed people.
